The continuing adventures of Dr. Gonzo continued Wednesday with the rest of the Fish Eye lineup:
Fish Eye Pinot Grigio California 2009. Grade=Average. Simple but nice, very easy to drink with some lemon/lime zest and green apple notes.
Fish Eye Riesling South Eastern Australia 2009. Grade=Average. A drier style of Riesling, with some white peach and apricot notes.
Fish Eye Chardonnay California 2008. Grade=Average. Decent, light-bodied Chard with some stone fruit, tropical fruit and slight creamy notes.
Fish Eye Merlot South Eastern Australia 2009. Grade=Outstanding. A nice surprise out of the bunch, this has some terrific black cherry and plum character, hints of spice and a juicy black fruit finish.
Fish Eye Cabernet Sauvignon California 2007. Grade=Average. Pretty mediocre Cab. One-dimensional notes of blackberry presented in a dusty, stilted fashion.
Fish Eye Shiraz South Eastern Australia 2009. Grade=Average. Decent Shiraz with some nice red berry fruit, black pepper and cinnamon notes.
