Good friend and Toast of Kentucky rep Very Barry dropped in on the Deuce with some incredible values from Italy and an introduction to one of my newest favorite Spanish reds:

Intaglio Bianco Trentino 2009. Grade=Outstanding. This incredible little blend of Chardonnay, Riesling and Muller-Thurgau shows off bright Meyer lemon, stone fruit and mineral.

Intaglio Rosso Trentino 2009. Grade=Outstanding. Indigenous red blend of Teroldego, Marzemino and Lagrein is light-to-medium-bodied, juicy with soft red berry fruit, brown spices, dried herbs and a touch of cocoa powder.

Serenata Negroamaro Puglia 2008. Grade=Outstanding. This spicy little red displays some chipotle-tinged raspberries, a bit of spiced up chocolate, black pepper and tobacco. A great little red for pizza and pasta.

Parazzeta Sara Sangiovese Toscana 2010. Grade=Outstanding. I really like this Sangiovese, 100% and
showing its classical leanings. Bright cherry fruit, hints of olives, some cedar, rosemary and a touch of cocoa dust.

Giuseppe Lonardi Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso 2008. Grade=Outstanding. Sweet, red berry fruit with a little chocolate, brown spices, and freshly-tilled earth. Medium-bodied and smooth across the palate.

Rebel.lia Tempranillo/Garnacha Tintorera/Bobal 2009. Grade=Outstanding+. I love this wine. You get some dark, inky purple and black fruits, smoky herbs, baking spices, chocolate, cigar box and clove. It is more fresh fruit than baked, with wonderfully balanced acidity to even it up.
