THE DAVID SHOW AND MORE: THE WINE INDUSTRY’S VERY OWN VERSION OF THE SPANISH PRISONER

The David Show dropped in on the Whino’s studio last week with his boss Tommy Dee and upper echelon RNDC guy Mike Parker on what was for some reason a very confusing presentation. What confused me was the pitch on The Crusher wines, which I briefly expected to taste through, yet those SKUs were brandished and quickly stashed away before David unveiled the new wines from Brutocao’s Bliss Family line, as well as Don and Sons’ B-Side:

Bliss Family Rosé Mendocino County 2010. Grade=Outstanding. Dry style, nice light notes of strawberry and pomegranate. A little zesty too.

Bliss Family Pinot Noir Mendocino County 2009. Grade=Outstanding. Very drinkable Pinot Noir with light-bodied displays of raspberry, cherry and red plums. Hints of brown spices and mineral lend depth.

Bliss Family Schoolhouse Red Mendocino County NV. Grade=Outstanding. A juicy, fresh-fruited style red with red and black fruit aromas and flavors, spices and hints of chocolate and pepper.

Bliss Family Cabernet Sauvignon Mendocino County 2009. Grade=Above Average. Lighter-styled Cab, lean and slightly astringent with some tart cherry and blackberry notes.

B-Side Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2010. Grade=Outstanding+. Muted and shy, but leaving the impression this will be phenomenal. Only slight hinting of its deep, rich, chocolate-y black fruits, sage, mint, cedar and tar notes. A youngster.
