Kicking off a fairly busy Thursday, Thursday, Thursday in the afternoon was our friend and SWS/Bluegrass rep La Chica Loca, as well as her boss, our very own Reverend Jim with a few new things from Diageo:

Ensemble White Wine California 2010. Grade=Good. Predominantly Chenin Blanc (with Malvasia Bianca, Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling), this semi-dry white shows off some nice lemon and tangerine, a bit of melon and stone fruit, ginger, star anise, finishing with nicely balanced acidity.

Uppercut Sauvignon Blanc North Coast 2010. Grade=Very Good. Peach, melon and lemongrass with some slightly creamy Key lime, this light-bodied white veers away from the obvious for a tasty California SB.

Ensemble Red Wine California 2010. Grade=Very Good. Zinfandel, Syrah and Merlot join forces for a jammy, medium-bodied red, displaying juicy boysenberry and blueberry notes, brown baking spices and smooth tannins.
