Fish & Wine Time

The Lenten Season is upon us, and that has us thinking about warmer weather and wines that dance graciously when there is fish on the dish. These wines will not only elevate your meal, but they won’t hurt your wallet much either!

  • Murgo Etna Bianco $14.99
-The particular conditions of the soils and the micro-climate of Mt. Etna greatly influence this wine’s characteristics. The higher acidity of the Caricante grapes is balanced by the Catarratto grapes, increasing this wine’s complexity. The special finesse of the bouquet and the taste derives from the volcanic soils of the Etna. It is an ideal wine to be served with delicate food.

  • Marine Dubard Coeur Du Mont Sauvignon Blanc $11.99
100% HEV certified sustainable Sauvignon Blanc grown in clay-limestone soil, with lots of rocks on 25+ year old vines. Fermented and aged in tank. This wine shows aromas and flavors of lemon, lime zest and oyster shell, with a subtle ginger note. An elegant combination of silky texture and tensile minerality

  • Luigi Ferrando Erbaluce Di Caluso $15.99
The bouquet includes floral aromas, notes of fresh fruit hints of vegetables, green apple and herbs. The flavor is fresh, good on the palate, thanks to the alcohol content. It is not an overbearing wine and it is balanced and medium-bodied.

  • La Lisse Chenin Blanc $9.98
-This ripe yet crunchy fruit gives this wine it’s freshness, vigor and spine, at the same time it’s luscious texture which is further complemented and enriched from one third vinified and matured for nine months in seasoned French oak barrels. A bright, lemony and densely fruity ensemble which has a long-lasting and thought-provoking finish, smooth (“lisse”) as silk (“soie”). Best to pair this wine with a nice herb-roasted dish or a seared tuna with kimchi, soft-shell crabs with a lemon aioli or a nice red snapper.

  • Smith and Perry Pinot Noir $11.98
Pinot Noir and Salmon is a classic food and wine pairing. This Pinot Noir captures the land’s character with bright red fruit and floral aromas. Perfectly balanced, fresh and vibrant. French oak influence lends texture and depth.
