It all started 2 years ago when our wine buyer visited Argentina and met with legendary winemakers Jeff Mausbach and Alejandro Sejanovich, both formerly of Catena Vineyards. Over (multiple) glasses of their extraordinary Malbec she explained the current craze for private single barrel selections in the Bourbon world. This got Jeff thinking: why couldn’t there be a private barrel selection for wine, too?

Thus, the collaboration between DEPs and ZaHa was born. Zaha is Jeff and Alejandro’s prized Malbec bottling, the very tippy-top of the various Malbec’s they produce. It consistently scores 92+ points from Robert Parker.

ZaHa means “Heart” in Mendoza’s native Huarpe language. The 90% Malbec fruit is co-fermented with small amounts of 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot for additional complexity and concentration. ZaHa - the heart of Paraje Altamira, Argentina.

To select the single barrel, Jeff sent multiple samples to the DEPs wine team, and we selected together the barrel we think to be the best. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do-but hurry, it is in very limited supply and once its gone, its gone forever!
